Anthony Ellect emerges out of a new wave of LA beatmakers taking influence from both the music of their childhood and the recent developments in the scene surrounding them, drawing in equal measure on early 2000s R&B and blunted bass-driven beats to form a hybrid that’s easy to get excited about. At times sparse, at times disorienting, but always mesmerizing - From the laidback head-nod swing of That Us to the all-out madness of Maybe Would, Ellect shows off his range with a unique swagger whilst retaining a distinctly Los Angeles sound.
